Then I use a scale that has very fine measurement and also measures in pretty much all different units but I use grains. I start by measuring out 47 grains of the chlorate, 30 grains of the antimony and 21 grains of the sulfur and dump them together in a little glass dish.Then make a cutter along the design of a couple of saw teeth that fit the groove. This can cut the groove deeper and is advanced to the next groove. Then a paper shim is placed under the cutter and the process is repeated till the grooves are deepened to your goal. An 80 grain charge will do about 1500 fps and will slow to a little more then 900. Fater charges won't buy you a lot down range.Make something the shape your going after and use it to back the sand paper. Go slowly and use a 2ft long or so straight edge. I like the ramrod to be tucked in a touch for a look. Wet that wood with a wet rag to let the wiskers stick out. Stay with more or less what the profile is for now and take off a little bit.This is 80 grains 3F Goex, brown paper, tow and a patched .600" ball, 50 yards rest. This is 85 grains 3F, brown paper, shredded cedar bark, bare ball, cedar bark overshot, 35 yards standing rest.
